“
The Plan”
2008
will be a year of exploration as the coaches at Style do the
following:
(1) Winter 2007-2008 – Official “invitation” to interested
boys to register for appropriate high level classes or
“pre-team” situations
(2) Once there are 10 “pre-team” boys
committed to the program, a “call” for a boys coach will be
extended
(3)The Boys Pre-team will begin conditioning and training in
the skills for each of the USAG Mens Gymnastics events:
*High Bar
*Vault
*Parallel Bars
*Rings
*Pommel Horse
*Floor
(4) Once a team of at least 5 boys has mastered necessary skills for competition, a Parent’s Support organization will be formed to provide necessary financial and other support to coaches and to the Style organization.
Questions & Answers
(1) Is there an age requirement or skill requirement for a boy to
join the program?
A boy should be between the ages of 5 and 12 if considering
competition gymnastics.
This is just a general recommendation and any age can be considered.
(2) How many classes does my son have to take before joining this
program?
A boy interested in competitive gymnastics should have had at least
some beginning level classes and should show interest and dedication
to the sport.
(3) While waiting for the program to form, where will my son be
placed?
This will depend on age and skill level.
If a child is young, he may be placed on pre-team, which is
currently co-ed. An
older boy may be placed in a higher level, more age appropriate
class for now. A child
may register for multiple classes to encourage skill growth and
better conditioning.
(4) What will happen when enough boys show interest in the program?
Most likely, a boys pre-team class will be formed that will focus
specifically on the needs and skill requirements for these boys.
(5) If my son is selected for “pre-team” what are parents
expectations?
